Whether you are gearing up for a multi-day adventure or a leisurely afternoon, the surrounding rivers and lakes offer a tranquil way to unwind and appreciate the changing fall colours. Along the Skootamatta River, Moira River, Black River or Clare River, you will have a chance to view waterfalls, test your skills on rapids and witness the charm of the smaller hamlets surrounding the village of Tweed. There are lots of options whether you are an experienced paddler or looking to try something new. Be sure to bring your camera because you will want to capture the beauty of the fall and hopefully catch a peak of local wildlife.
See above for a suggested trip along Moira River. The route is flexible and allows you to make it as challenging or laid-back as you like with multiple access points. Or you can simply do a day trip around Stoco Lake which is approximately a 5km loop around the perimeter.
You can easily work in a mid-trip snack once within the Village of Tweed. Notable spots include By the Way café, Vito’s Pizza, The Gateway restaurant, Pizza Latina or Tall Boys Pub, all easily accessible from the main street through town. While on your stroll, be sure to stop into the local Re/Max Quinte office, also conveniently located on the main street and talk to a local real estate expert about listings in the area.
